Sarah's Sense of Snow (Baked Alaska)

1 White cake baked in an 8 X 11 inch pan-- or comparable amnt of sponge cake(trimmed to one inch larger than the ice cream, on all sides)

1/2 of 1/2 gallon block of Moose Ice Cream- or substitute Vanilla, or any fairly conservative flavor , halved lengthwise

5 egg whites

1 tsp of vanilla or almond extract

1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar

2/3 cup of sugar

Place cake ( one inch larger all around than the slab of ice cream) on a plate. Center the halved

slab on the cake. Cover, and freeze firm. When it is time to serve, beat the eggwhites with vanilla, or almond and the Cream of Tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar beating til stiff peaks form . Transfer the cake , with icing, to a baking sheet; spread with egg white mixture, sealing to the edges of the cake all around. Swirl to make peaks. Bake at 500 degrees, until golden, about 3 minutes . Slice and serve immediately . Makes 8 servings.

Snowman Soup(a guest at Martha Stewart's site gave this recipe to a girl at a boarding school who had alot of gifts to buy)

You need a festive mug, put in: an envelope of hot
chocolate mix, 3 Hershey kisses, a
hand-full (15 or so) mini marshmallows, and a candy
cane... put in a cellophane bag &
attach this poem to the ribbon

"Was told that you've been good this year
Always glad to hear it
With freezing weather drawing near
You'll need to warm the spirit
So here's a little snowman soup
Complete with stirring stick
Add hot water, sip it slow
It's sure to do the trick!"
